James R. Clark
Born a Gemini in
the year of PacMan and MTV (1981) in Oklahoma, raised in Indiana,
now residing in Chicago. I have been working with music my entire
life. Even before the days when basic musical training or musical
instument were availble to me, I was working with what elements
I had. A very young James's first musical instrument was a cheap
2-tape boombox, on which I would make rhythm tracks by repetively
sampling and resampling short rhythms.
Later in my life
I was trained to be a well-rounded percussionist and woodwindist.
I'm a self-taught composer and I've arranged music for a variety
of genres over the years, from Jazz, to Rock, to more experimental
sounds. Influences on my work include Frank Zappa, Danny Elfman,
Skinny Puppy, Orbital, They Might Be Giants, Igor Stranvinski,
and the Residents. The more recent years I've developed a love
for and have been enveloped in electronic sounds. This will easily
continue to be a main staple of my music for many years to come.
